Matt joined FBC in the fall of 2005 after spending 4 years as the High School Pastor at Champion Forest Baptist Church in Houston. He was born and raised in the great state of Ohio where buckeyes (a.k.a. poison nuts) fall like rain and Indians/Browns/Cavs fans favorite saying is "maybe next year." Matt loves to cheer for them anyway! In 2000, Matt graduated from the University of Mobile after playing 4 years of baseball with a degree in Education and History. The plan was to be involved in students lives by teaching and coaching. But the Lord had other ideas. After spending a summer being a student ministry intern at First Baptist Church Jonesboro, the Lord moved Matt's interest from teaching history to God's grace erasing history.
For a student to know that dependence on Him is freedom, to die is to live, to lose is to gain, to trust means to obey is the desire of Matt's ministry. In Him, there is life, He is love and to pursue Him is happiness!! In Matt's free time, he loves playing and talking about sports, watching sportcenter (is there other channels on TV?), going to students sports games, playing sports video games and joining fantasy sports leagues. After settling in Texarkana, Matt and his faithful dog Pistol found a home in Nash. He has found that the best burger in Texarkana can be found at a Road Runner gas station and that FUSION is so much more than a Ford vehicle!
